On Sunday morning, in the lovely Manchester sunshine, Jennie from Beauty Cocoon and I headed to the G Casino to take part in the lovely Rebecca’s, from Polka Dots & Peals, Retro Wedding Fair. I was so excited.. this was Olive & Em’s first official outing and I was excited to see the feedback that I would get from brides to be. I’m a little bit of a geek so I had already practiced the set up for the table at home and worked out the lay out with all the little props that I had picked up. When we arrived I was a little shocked how people were actually playing on the casino tables at 9am in the morning!! I really have led a very little sheltered life .. but hey that discussion is for another blog!! hehe..
So this is how I set the table up… I was really pleased with what it looked like in the end.. I love playing around with props, they help exaggerate the crockery and bring it to life… The pink interior suitcase was bought from the lovely Vintage Barnardos.. I filled it with vintage books and old records that Theo & I used at our own wedding. My sign is my pride and joy.. I made that from scratch, using my post cards and large prints of the crockery being used at my previous events.. I was really pleased with that 🙂
As we all started to set up it was great to meet fellow vintage lovers and I got really excited as I watched the fabulous Alice of Kitty Wink Vintage starting to do the hair and make up on the fabulous models. Check out her website as she creates some fantastic vintage looks. She has inspired me to do the vintage look and dress up EVERY day 🙂 I’m certainly going to have her to one of my vintage themed tea parties in the future so keep an eye out 🙂 Some other fabulous people I met were Sweet but Sinful who makes the most gorgeous cakes with really diverse themes. Check her out on facebook and see some of the lovely cakes that she makes. What I loved most about the fair was meeting fellow vintage lovers. It’s so great when we get to share a passion. That’s something that I have loved so much about blogging and being introduced to twitter, you meet such amazing people 🙂 So another lovely lady that I met was Dionne of Bespoke Bouquets who makes the most gorgeous bouquets for your very special day. I also met Laura and her hubby from Haydn Rydings photography, they provide amazing and unique photography for that very special day. The great guys at White Robin offer some gorgeous original stationery and some amazing little wedding extras. They are a husband and wife combo starting out and doing something that they love , great to meet you guys:-) Victoria Claire at Vibrant Vintage provided the most fantastic array of dresses. My picture below tries to capture some of the gorgeous vintage style wedding dresses, amazing 🙂 Sorry its a bit rubbish quality, new ones will be available soon..
I will be getting some fabulous pictures from j &v photography who took the official photos on the day, I will get them up as soon as I receive them. I’m very excited as she took some with the models using my crockery so those will go up on the website over the Easter Hols. I’m going to do a bit of an update and a revamp… like a website spring clean at Easter so I will update the photos as soon as I can 🙂
All in all, I loved the wedding fair and it made me realise how important it is, for you lovely brides and non bridal customers, to get the best possible service. I am very keen to create a personal and special touch to your event. So whatever I can do to help out I will. So please feel free to get in touch and I can send you price lists and ts &cs. I’m now on the look out for any local wedding fairs… Give me a shout if you know of anyone who is organising one or maybe you are? I’d love to try and come along 🙂
I’d love to hear any feedback from those of you that visited or of any other fairs that you know of… Happy Vintage Hunting.
Lots of Love
Olive & Emxxxxx
